TGIFF

I've been struggling with writing for a few reasons. Been really busy with transitioning to my new job and new life. Been in and out on the weekends for the most part. Also, nobody really reads this (I cover a very narrow demographic I guess, thanks Emily!). When I write it tends to pour out, so here goes!

I had to go back to my last post to figure out what to write about haha!

Let's see, I went to the NHL Draft in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago! I'm a gigantic hockey fan/nerd, and moving closer to a "real" hockey town is exciting (Columbus doesn't count lol). I'm actually a good bit closer to Pittsburgh's arena compared to Columbus' now, which is really exciting. Being closer to friends in Pittsburgh is also sweet!

Woohoo, getting a tour of Pittsburgh with Maria

We managed to get into the arena the night of the first round!

View of the draft

Here's the Mario Lemieux statue (video of the play)

More Pittsburgh Pictures:

I also went back to Pittsburgh for the 4th of July. Another fun (but too short!) trip! Partying in the 'burgh, $5 Pirates game shennanigans, watching speedboat races, hiding in random peoples' tent because of the rain, and awesome fireworks! Woohoo!

I don't even care about the Pirates, but for $5 you can't beat having fun with friends!

Speedboat racing yeah!

Heinz Field, unpainted. Home of the Steelers woo!

Now for the technology-nerd side of me, I finally received my Raspberry Pi! It's an awesome little computer. Don't quite know what I'm going to use it for, maybe thinking of using it to run my arcade machine. I swear I'll finish that thing this summer!

My little Pi

Work is work. Boring, not very stressful yet. I do junk like this all day:

Fire alarms/telecom

About life? I'm existing. Learning to take things how they come. Trying not to force stuff to happen. I think it's working so far. We'll see.

Have fun!

TGIFF!

TGIFF!

I haven't wrote in awhile, the three weeks have been VERY busy!

  • I graduated May 13th! FINALLY DONE! :D
  • I left for Europe with my family on May 15th, got to go to Amsterdam, London, Paris, and Brussels!
  • Got back from Europe late May 30th, moved in to my new place June 1st.
  • Started my new job June 4th.

So happy to be done with school. I'm not going to lie, it was a huge struggle. Completely life-changing experience in so many ways. Somehow I managed to make it to the end! Big thanks to the friends still with me, and to those I left behind. Thank you :) Such a great feeling.

Europe was awesome! Something that I always wanted to do, just to see the sights and say "I've been there!" So lucky in my young life to have been able to travel so much, thanks to my awesome parents who work so hard for us (and get to keep 100% of the frequent flyer miles/hotel points they earn through business travel). It was a really nice way to close the chapter of my life that I spent with my immediate family, and to open a new one for myself.

Now I sit here, and I don't know what to think. I'm obviously both nervous and excited about my new job. It started off slow and boring (expected), but now it's starting to get better. I'm an Electrical Engineer for an architectural consulting firm (non-residential stuff), so just imagine everything that involves any sort of electricity in a building, and I'll be working on it. I'm a quick learner; I pick up patterns and methodologies really quickly and efficiently. My boss is really nice, giving me new tasks that are slowly introducing me to everything. I get enough wiggle room to do my own thing at my own pace, and occasionally impress him with what I manage to get done with (now) only a week on the job so far. Like my boss said, he's confident in the education we all get, but getting used to the industry, and how everything is done, is the real hurdle. That helps out a lot, since pretty much 97% of what I do we covered in one week in one class! Work isn't stressful yet, though I don't have really any responsibility at this point. I get to sit in my nice corner cubicle (with a window!) and do my own thing, pretty isolated from the rest of the Electricals (too many interns and new people, so I get put back in the part of the building with all of the Mechanicals drafting for now) unless I have questions.

Past my job, I'm more nervous than I'll ever let on in person. Where am I going in life? Some friends are still in school, and have time to figure things out. Other friends already have made plans for their futures. Me? I dunno... I have a job. I live pretty close to a few good friends. What about my future, though? Who will it be with? When will I find out who it is? Where will I go? What will we be doing? Not fun to constantly think about.

The one thing that brings me back down to reality is a quote I've got in my little notebook:

I probably got that quote from some TV show or movie somewhere and decided to write it down. I really don't remember when or from what I got it from. I already am a very present-focused person (very very too much present-focused for sure), so when I do think about the future, it really freaks me out. I tend to try to shut it out most of the time, which really isn't a good thing... Anyway,

I carry this little orange notebook in my back pocket with me pretty much all the time. I'm very forgetful, so it helps to have a place to put stuff like "Look for new Dr.'s office" and "buy tissues for office." It's also a good thing for when I have those random thoughts or cool ideas, you know, the ones where you're like "dang it, I was thinking of something really neat 10 minutes ago, but now I can't remember what!" Well, I have a TON of those moments. Writing them all down really helps me stay on track. I really wish I wasn't so forgetful, but it's a quirk we've got to put up with.... Now, I must say, writing everything down is one thing, but actually getting everything done is another ! :P (I can check off one thing in the notebook now that I've actually written a new post that wasn't 90% pictures haha!)

All things being said, my best days are definitely ahead of me. I just need to remember to let things work, instead of trying to force them to work. I've managed to come so far, and I can't wait to see what's around the corner!

TGIFF Graduation Time!

This is my last week at ONU! So excited, yet I should be dreading the end? Moving on with my life is exciting and new, but I'm leaving behind the normalcy I've known for years, which is unsettling. Have a job offer in hand, waiting to see if another comes along before taking it.

School's done, exams are all finished, now just the waiting for graduation. Bittersweet. Finally.

TGIFF

TGIFF - Last Friday before I'm done as an undergraduate! (Next week's Friday is during finals week, and I'll be done with finals on Wednesday, so it doesn't count.)

Will I have a job offer before I hit "publish?" Later edit: YES.

Watched Emily golf all weekend. Got soaked, pelted with hail, destroyed by monsoon-like winds, and froze my butt off the first day, got some pretty nice sunburn the second day. Love that Ohio weather.... Happy for her to finish 1st team OAC! Golf is really boring - I definitely couldn't tolerate watching it if it was somebody I didn't really care about!

Monday: "Officially" finished capstone. Our final presentation was then, which was a boatload of fun [/sarcasm]. Our project worked enough to consider it to be "working," but that's a very, very loose term. The presentation was really rough because we never seem to escape without getting all of the hard, pointed questions. The freakin mechanical engineers basically build a shelf to put on a robot (but it has see-thru poly-whatever plastic AND and adjustable shelf) for their part of their project, but we get mauled on every little detail on ours? Not cool. Doesn't help that we have deadweight for a partner, either. Now that that whining's over, SENIOR DESIGN IS DONE! :D We just have to throw together a website (thanks again, Emily. I don't want to dig up some old html templates and make a 2003-looking website by myself thank you very much) and do whatever random edits to our final paper that the professors see fit.

Tuesday: Finishing up school, not much happening today...Post-capstone group therapy session, work, bar with friends, sleep. Things still haven't hit me yet at this point. Wondering what I will feel when they do.

Here's a video our department had parodying our professors that was presented today. Epic rap battle!

Wednesday: I can't tell if this week is going really fast or really slow. The anticipation is killing me. We got our oral presentation feedback back. We apparently really really suck. One faculty comment insinuated that one group member did all of the work, which really upset me. I could laugh off all of the other comments. Not that one.

Thursday: GOT JOB OFFER! Well, got notification that I'd be getting the job offer next week. It's for the consulting firm in Uniontown (which is like 8 miles from where I lived until we moved to Columbus). Went to Bdubs with friends and rounded out the awesome day with the midnight showing of The Avengers!

Friday: Last day of undergrad classes! Two classes and an hour of work. Then the weekend! Three finals between me and my diploma now. :D

Lets get these finals done and graduate! TGIFF!

TGIFF

TGIFF!

Monday: Got a "talk with us" from Timken call. Phone interview with HR on Wednesday. Senior design, although pretty much complete, decided to blow up on us. That was awesome. Paper due Wednesday, final presentation is next Monday. Then I'll really be done! :D

Tuesday: Two interview Tuesday! Woke up at 6 AM to go off to Cleveland for the day for two interviews. First was at Automation Services & Controls in Chagrin Falls. Nice little company, interesting work, certainly wouldn't mind working there. They work on designing and maintaining control systems (PLCs, motors, etc) for different local compainies. Not exactly glamorous or exciting, but not a bad place to be. Interview went pretty well, but I shouldn't expect to hear from them for another 2-3 weeks. Yuck. Second interview was at SBM Consulting in Uniontown. They pretty much do the design layout and planning of all of the electrical stuff in buildings (electrical outlets, lighting, fire alarms, etc...). They told me to "think about it and get back with them," and that they'd have a "powwow" after I got back with them to see what would happen. So...I guess I took that as a positive? Either way, both of these interviews went well, and I'm finally feeling up again about my prospects!

Wednesday: Phone interview with Timken HR went well. My resume/info is getting passed on to whatever hiring managers they have who are looking for new employees. I'll be seeing soon if they want to bring me in for an interview.

Thursday: Last day of undergrad labs. EVER! :D

Friday: Packing up the car with as much stuff as I can, heading home to get some stuff moved out before I get really busy. Going to see best friend Emily in her last ever golf tournament in Columbus (how convenient :P ) So excited to see her play. Golf, I know, right? Shows how much I value her as a friend haha!

TGIFF

TGIFF!

I technically was asked last week, but since I just edited it in, I figured I'd mention it here again at the top. I was asked to be a groomsman in my very best friends' wedding.  So excited to be part of this wonderful ceremony, and really happy for Emily and Jim!

I got bored of/am too lazy to try to remember what happened on what day, being so busy at the end of the school year (I'm also typing this on a tablet in bed before I go to sleep), so I'll just go with a flowing style right now.

Got two job interviews! Both were set up on Thursday (imagine how exciting it was to get two in the same day when I've been ssrved for opportunities)  are scheduled for next Tuesday. So ready to go out there and take them by the horns! I'm super motivated to try and get one of these jos since they're pretty darn close to my best friends and some of my extended family.

Senior design is finally in its twilight! We got all of the circuiry done, combined, soldered together, and tested. All that's left is getting the ADC sampling done right (our computer engineering partner's area) and some calibration onnour end to get the proper readings. Complicated story made short, were 97% done with everything but the final paper and presenation. We had our poster presentation Wednesday; it's pretty much a nice dinner and a big-boy science fair. The presentation part went a lot better (easier) than I thought it was going to go.

In other life news, Im happy to really kniw who my good friends are. I'very been pretty bummed that I haven't been doing much with a lot of my newer friends lately - I know we'very all been busy, but I never have even been getting the chance to decline an invite to do anything, I just never get asked :( I guess I'll be gone in a little over three weeks, and out of their lives? I dunno, I try to keep in touch, but it's 99% of the time me checking in, and almost never the other way around. Juat had to vent thar one last time...

My Pittsburgh Penguins managed to stave off elimination from the playoffs! They've been really underperforming, but finaly woke up and acheived a 10-3 onWednesday, which is always good for the hockey soul!

Two interviews, senior design is practically over, and graduation is three weeks away! TGIFF!

TGIFF!

ONE MONTH FROM GRADUATION! AAAAAAHHHH

Monday: Easter break still, kinda. Came back to school early to get things in order and do a little homework (nope, nope). Always helps to sleep here for a night and not have to wake up for classes the next day. Oh yeah, will be scheduling an interview next Monday! Yessssssss! Not to get my hopes up too much, but this one's in Akron, which would be awesome.

Tuesday: Armageddon week. Final push for our senior design project. So close to being done, all the pieces are falling into place! Also, helping Emily with her capstone robot. Working on two senior design projects is exhausting, but that's what good friends are for! I actually ended up liking her project more than ours, anyway :P

Wednesday: More capstone work all day. I'm getting about 4 hours of sleep a night, blaming staying up late working, allergies, stress, and insomnia. Wake up, class, capstone, eat, capstone, sleep. Nothing else.

Thursday: Same as the days before...wake up, class, capstone, eat, capstone, sleep. Robot's competition is Friday, so we're in the final push for that. Our capstone's poster presentation is next Wednesday, so we pretty much have to be done by the end of the weekend.

Friday: Much needed break. Watching playoff hockey, maybe seeing other friends? Waking up and not having to rush off somewhere to do something immediately was nice....also getting more than 4 hours of sleep was awesome!

Nothing but class and capstone all week. Literally nothing else. Too little sleep. Just hard work with my best friends. Graduation is exactly one month away. All worth it in the end. TGIFF!

EDIT: I feel bad for omitting this, ugh this past week has been a blur. I have the great honor of being a groomsman in Emily and Jim's wedding. Got asked this week, so I needed to fit it into this post. So excited to be a part of my very best friends' wedding! :)

TGIFF

TGIFF!

Monday:
Learning of classmates getting job offers from places that said they would talk to me which turn around and ignore all forms of attempted communication from me really rubbed me the wrong way this week. Seriously, don't talk with me at a career fair for 20-30 minutes, show interest, take my resume, and tell me you're going to call in a week, and then ignore me when I check in two, three, four, five weeks later. At least tell me no, stop asking, we hate you, something. Then you give a classmate (who has a better GPA) an offer. That makes me feel so good about myself!

Tuesday:
I've been so stressed with school, senior design, and finding a job. In fact, so stressed/exhausted that I showed up an hour early to work...I was really confused for a bit. I guess I'll have a little extra in this next paycheck :P
Been helping Emily with her capstone project; I like burying my problems by helping others with theirs. Jim and myself like her project more than ours anyway, so we like helping out.

Wednesday:
One of those go to sleep at 1:00 AM and wake up at 6:00 AM days... Control Systems test. Don't think it went too bad, but something always seems to throw me off, so I'll see how that goes. Jaclyn's birthday! Fun times with friends, finally...a lot of work coming after the much needed break.

Thursday:
Easter break! Tons of work on my arcade project.

Friday:
More Easter break!

So I guess nothing much has changed:

  • I'm still looking for a job.
  • School sucks; want to graduate already
  • Even though I like to live in the present, not knowing a general direction for my future is freaking me out
At least it's Friday...

TGIFF

TGIFF!

I finally got my rejection notice from Diebold. I enjoyed the automated response: "We have completed a thorough review of your background and qualifications. Though well impressed with your experience, we have decided that your background is not an exact match for our particular needs." Yeah, why even bother writing that? Still throwing out resumes and job applications every day, still freaking out about finding a job. Every week more and more people are getting offers, which is really grinding my spirits down. I don't want to graduate alone and jobless; I'm starting to feel lost. I would be a liar if I said I wasn't jealous...

I can't believe that this Sunday is Palm Sunday already! Easter in just a week and a few days, and then graduation in roughly a month after that. Holy cow, this year has gone by so fast! It seems like it wasn't that long ago that a lot of friends graduated, I moved in to my off-campus residence, started a new school year, and made new friends. Fast forward a little bit, senior design feels like we're on the edge of victory, but my stress levels about it have never been higher. Senior year is almost over. I don't know where I'm going. I don't know who will be with me.

I ran across this quote the other day: "Maybe the best thing to do is stop trying to figure out where you’re going, and just enjoy where you’re at."  I can't fathom what's going to happen in the next couple of months. All I know is that I'm giving it my all right now, and that I don't want to settle for second place anymore.

TGIFF

TGIFF!

It's Friday again, in which I summarize all of the good, bad, and ugly things that happened to me this past week.

Job search: It's been over three weeks with my interview @ Diebold. They said to not contact them, that they would get back with me in a few weeks. My dad (engineer with 30+ years of experience) said that if they really had interest, they would have gotten back with me within a few days. That's really deflating. They didn't want to wait for me to do the interview during spring break, and the people who interviewed me seemed to really like me, so I thought I'd at least be in the running? I decided to drop my HR contact an email to see what's up; I can see that the position is still open when I log on to their website. A handful of other companies that I've talked to who said that they'd contact me with a yes: interview or a no: not interested have not got back with me, and have been ignoring weeks of communication attempts. So professional.

Senior Design: We're almost there! The circuit needs a little tweaking to work optimally, and then we just need to integrate it with our microcontroller and get those numbers to start pumping out. I finished making the enclosure for it. I've seen a dremel tool in use before, but I've never done it myself. Had to practice first:

Practicing: I got better pretty quickly

Final Result: not too shabby

I don't know if I've ever outlined what our project is, but it is a smart meter. It's basically an electrical meter like the ones on your house that measures the power you consume. It's "smart" because unlike the old-style meters that require a power company employee to walk up to each meter to take the reading (go look at your meter, there are rotary dials and junk that show how much you've used), it can send all of that information wirelessly to the power company. They can also do neat things like real-time pricing, in which you get charged less when there is less demand for power, and more for when power is in high demand (it still comes out to be a net savings for the consumer, and is much nicer on the environment). For our project, we're just using the lower voltage out of a wall socket instead of the higher voltage that comes into your house (for safety and simplicity). We can plug a load into the socket on the top of the box and measure how much power it's using, and do other stuff with that data. Pretty much a huge pain in the ass.

Going to see The Hunger Games tonight, and getting a lot of work knocked out over the weekend. This ride ain't over yet.

TGIFF!

Busy week back after spring break. They forgot to submit our order for some parts for senior design, so that set us back a good week's worth of progress. Still waiting to hear back from my one interview, waiting for word back from other places (how hard is it to give me a simple yes/no response?). Boring week with awesome weather, otherwise.

Since I don't have a lot else to say in this post right now (working on a big one that's not done yet), I will leave a cat picture.

TGIFF!

Spent the start of spring break in Windsor, ON with a few friends over the weekend. Had a great time going out to the casino (I won enough to pay for my room/gas!) and the local bars. Home for the rest of spring break, got my bi-yearly sinus infection, been fighting that off the whole week. I get a sinus infection at the end of September and the end of February every year, without fail. Went to see the Penguins play a game in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, victory!

Me and my brother, Matt in the parking lot behind the old arena

Spent the rest of the week sleeping, being boring, and procrastinating working more on my job search.

TGIFF

TGIFF! Another week has flown by - I can't believe it's March already! Soon it'll be two months until graduation! The weeks go by soooo quickly, but the days are long.

Monday - Mondays are usually the worst, this one no better than any others. After getting no sleep due to a certain roommate deciding it would be a beautiful thing to cook with pots and pans and the microwave at 2:30 AM, it became a day of straight class, work, more class, senior design, straight to bed. Really wearing me down, all of these days where I wake up, go to class/work without breaks from breakfast-dinner time, then work on senior design from dinner-bedtime. Making strides in senior design now, so I expect the same schedule to continue for a bit longer, but see it improve over the next month or so.

Tuesday - Interview #1: Diebold in North Canton. Started day actually making awesome progress on senior design work. We are no longer stuck on problems, but now just behind. Can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! After that it was a quick lunch and off to Canton (2 1/2 hours from here in Ada) for an interview.

I'll start off by saying I felt pretty good after this interview. Will have to wait for a few weeks to see what happens next with Diebold. Went through a slew of interviewers for a few hours. First guy was standard HR guy with no engineering background; standard questions pertaining to character, work ethic, etc. Really nice guy. Second was a EE project manager (~20 years experience) in their electronics division. Talked a lot about what Diebold does (they make ATMs. There's just a huge amount of different stuff that goes into these machines!) and what I could expect working there. He works on the product development side, as opposed to the product testing side. I think he liked me a fair amount, which was confidence-building. Not having the first real interviewer be all hard was a good thing. The second interviewer was a mid-level designer, with about 10 years experience. We talked a lot about school, what subjects I liked/hated, what I do for work (he was just FASCINATED with my job in IT here at ONU for some reason), hobbies, etc. Really nice guy, seemed like someone they would pair me with to shadow / be a mentor while I figure out what I will be doing. These first two (engineer) interviewers seemed to like me a lot and thought I'd fit in well. The last interviewers, though, were tough to crack. As a way to hide being nervous, I like to get personable and tell jokes and stuff. Helps me feel really confident in interviews.

The last two interviewers, however, were really high-up people (I'm talking like 30 years of experience each, minimum), who were very terse and down-to-business. That kinda stopped the whole flow I had going. They had me get up and draw diagrams of projects I had done for different courses, chided me on not bringing a portfolio with writeups of projects I've done, and gave me a test (luckily it was on a part of a circuit that I did earlier that morning for senior design, haha!). Things relaxed a tiny bit after they were done testing me, but they still weren't very personable and probably frustrated that they didn't get to leave work early (since it's a 2 1/2 hour trip for me, my interview was an evening one). Overall, I felt I hit it off really well with the first two engineers, which I think will carry me through to the next level. The last portion didn't go poorly, but it just didn't go silky smooth like the first half.

Five hours (round trip) of driving, plus sitting through hours of interviews, and sitting in a lab all morning, really screwed up my back again. Still lingering pain today from Tuesday. Actually had to stop and get out of the car on the way back. If I experience numbness in my legs, I'm supposed to freak out. Started to get some numbness and tingling, so had to stretch out for a bit. I'm actually supposed to go straight to the hospital if I experience numbness for more than a few minutes. Herniated disk - not bad enough to require surgery, just have to tolerate the pain.

Wednesday - Looong day, beautiful weather! Hit 70-ish, got to break out the rollerblades. Extremely sore and painful, but got a good workout. Actually got to hang out and chill for a bit while helping friends not kill their microcontroller board or themselves. :P

Thursday - Communication Systems test Friday. Two labs. Study, study, study. Procrastinate studying. Helping with friend's senior design project to distract me from studying boredom. Laser cats. More studying. Sleep (more like a short nap....)

Friday - Another 6 AM start. Study study study class study study test (3 problems, test worth 30% of final grade, you do the math...) SPRING BREAK! Off to Canada for the weekend with friends, then chilling at home in Columbus with the family for some much needed rest.

Oh hai I wrote another book.

TGIFF

TGIFF!

I went into Monday with the feeling that it was going to be a good week, and I was right!

Tuesday I got my first callback for an interview at Diebold in North Canton for their Electronics Engineer position. Super pumped, mainly because I've been worried that with my lack of experience and GPA getting to the interview stage would be problematic. I feel really confident in interviews, though - they're my chance to show what I've got, and that I'm better than a number on a piece of paper! Interview is next Tuesday - I tried to ask for one during spring break, but they wanted to get me in earlier than that. They told me that they know students are going to career fairs and interviewing around, and that they wanted to get my in ASAP to show me what they had there, so I think that's a good sign!

Thursday was my 23rd birthday! Nothing like having two labs on your birthday, but I'm not complaining - my birthday would always be during finals on quarters, but now that we're on semesters, I'm in the clear! Family came up to take me out to dinner, which was really nice of them, especially considering that it was a 3 hour round trip for them. The restaurant we were planning on going to was closed, though, so we went to Lima for Olive Garden instead.

Awesome best friend sneaking a ton of cupcakes into my room while I was in class made my day! <3 Emily
Birthday wishes all around and a nice day :)

Officially started my lenten resolution of working out. First time going during lent was rough, it was a 8-5:00 day without breaks in between classes/work shifts, plus Ash Wednesday mass sandwiched by senior design, workout, and more senior design. The only time I was in my room that day other than waking up and going to sleep was when I went back to change for the mass! I may be of average height and slim, but I am in no way in shape, and I want to change that. I have been pretty sore since then due to this and this, but working out and continuing some of the physical therapy stuff I've had is going to help. I've been so busy with school lately, which has resulted in a lot of sitting in front of computers all day, so I've resolved to become more active (especially because it's still cold and wet and not rollerblading weather).

Next week is spring breaaaaaaaaak! (Well, there's a lot of homework and exams between now and then...)

TGIFF

I figured this blog wouldn't be very interesting if it was nothing but me complaining all the time, so I figured I'd summarize some of the happier things that happened this week.

Monday: The first of all of the long days I've had this week, we had our Spotts Lecture in the evening. Class all day, got to go out to dinner with my dad and a colleague of his (who were attending the lecture) and my friends, which was awesome. The lecture was on the role engineers at the Mayo Clinic. Started off a little slow with the "ancient" history of the clinic, but finally got to some really interesting things. It was neat to see how engineers and physicians collaborate to come up with some truly astounding stuff. It also helps that I was familiar with the medical engineering field, since my dad's worked in it for a long time - picked up a lot over the years.

Tuesday: More work on senior design, more work at work. This week's been a blur, totally blanking out about Tuesday...

Wednesday: Review board for our senior design project. It was not fun - being done with it was a very good feeling. Attended presentation afterward from Fenetech / Rovisys, got some good pointers for the career fair the next day.

Thursday: Two labs with a career fair sandwiched between them. Sprinted through the first lab, dressed up all professional-like. Went to the career fair, talked a long time with staff from both Rovisys and Diebold. Talked to two different engineers from Rovisys for awhile, learned more about the company, told a few jokes, told I was at least getting a callback. They seemed fairly interested in me, but since they don't do the hiring themselves, they couldn't guarantee much more than a callback. I'm really interested in Rovisys because they have positions that actually interest me, and they seem like a very friendly and relaxed workplace. I had a phone interview with Diebold last November, but at that time, they were only looking for winter graduates. They remembered who I was (one staff member at the fair was the one who interviewed me), which was very promising. Will be hearing back from them in a week or two, very excited to see if I can grab interviews with both. They're both EE jobs in the area of electronics/systems engineering, which is my preferred discipline. Both companies are also very near to some close friends and family, which would be awesome to have close!
